What is the Otcas application?
The Occupational Therapy and Occupational Therapy Assistant Centralized Application Service (OTCAS & OTACAS) is a program of the American Occupational Therapy Association. It allows prospective students to use one application to apply to multiple participating OT and OTA programs through a single application process.
How long does it take for Otcas to process transcripts?
OTCAS processing may take up to 4 weeks after your application, transcripts, and fee are received. OTCAS is not responsible for any materials lost in the mail or for delays caused by the registrar’s office.
When should I submit my Otcas application?
Your OTCAS application must be submitted by October 1, it does not have to be verified by that date. OTCAS could take up to 4 weeks beyond October 1 to verify your application. We highly recommend applying early to avoid possible long delays in the verification process.
Can I submit my Otcas without letters of recommendation?

How long does Otcas take to verify?
Once you’ve submitted all of your required documents, OTCAS will still take 3-4 weeks to verify your application, before you can even apply to schools. So do yourself a huge favor and start working on your OTCAS application as soon as the application cycle opens up. This is almost always in July of each year.
How do I know if my Otcas application is verified?
To help you keep track of your application and all materials, click Check Status at the top of the application dashboard. Keep in mind that it takes 7-10 business days from the date of receipt to post transcripts and official test scores to your application.
How is Otcas GPA calculated?
To calculate these GPAs, each A-F or 0-100 grade you entered in the Grade field is first converted to a OTCAS numeric grade value, then multiplied by the attempted credits. The resulting product is Quality Points. Your total Quality Points are then divided by your Attempted Credits to determine your GPA.
How much is Otcas?
OTCAS charges $150 for the first program you apply to and $65 for each additional program. Some programs may have an additional supplemental fee; contact your programs to learn if they require this and how to pay it.
What does verified on Otcas mean?
Complete: Application has been e-submitted to OTCAS and all required payments and U.S. transcripts have been received. (Programs may require additional materials) Verified: Application has been processed and released to designated programs.
How do I send my transcript to Otcas?
Sending Transcripts by Mail
- Contact the registrar at each institution you attended and request one transcript be sent to OTCAS.
- Provide the registrar with the following items: OTCAS Transcript ID Form. Ask the registrar to attach it to your official transcripts.
